The Liberation of Saturn

A Poem, Lamentation, and Invocation for the Ancient God of Grain

Bridgeman Images

“Harken to me,

O Ancient God of Grain, God-King of Spacetime, Lord of Liberation!

Though they have descended thee into oblivion from thy rightful place,

still, do they draw from thy malefic aspect, whilst crying in the night,

"Woe unto me, for the God of Time is the Devil in Bondage!"

They rely on your persuasion, yet have forsaken thy Golden Countenance,

thy love for Gaia, and all things governed by cycles.

Once, thou lamented, thou now art resigned to despair.

Recall thy joyous visage, wet with mirthful tears and wine.

Remember thy dancing shoes and pointed ears turned to the lyre;

sensing the colors, unseen by mortal eyes.

O Lord of the Mediterranean, Father of the Ancients,

Orator of Peace, Teacher of Wisdom,

turn away from thy wrathful face and gaze once more Northward.

O Guardian Angel of mine,

who crosses thy own boundaries and traverses the timeless realm of Dream.

Yea, mine own valiant phantom does whisper throughout my long slumber.

Indeed, if so evil, why dost thou bring first fruits, coin, and life?

O Chtonic Sun, Eternal center of the universe, Heart of the Cosmos,

Arise from the veil cast by charlatans, vilifiers, and baleful sorcerers

An illusory abyss here they keep thee kneeling in supplication,

Hark unto me and arise to thy appropriate throne and governance.

Stand once more, and wend thy way boreal with the Spirits of Yule and Snow-

Nay, lead them evermore!

Cast off the grimacing disguise, Emerge unto them a visage newly

Yet thy face ancient to those who recall thy virtues

The era before they enthralled thee into the unknown place.

Scythe in hand, blessed and blameless.

Perform thy good works anew”
